A Big 'OLTexas Roundup

I know that time flies but has it really been six months since my last post!?!?! Not to mention the fact that I've still got that whole cable car theme going. I need me some longhorns or something. ;) LOL Since the whole point of this blog is to scrapbook our family memories, it's about time that I got to scrap booking; thus a gargantuan Texas Roundup of a post of our last six months.

All in all our adjustment to Dallas has been great. We LOVE both kids' schools and have made some good friends. We quickly found a church to call home and have felt God's peace about this move ever since we got here. It was definitely the right move for our family at this point in our lives. Dallas has a swagger about it that is fun. It is a big city with lots to offer, but still feels very familial. It is the antithesis of San Francisco. We can actually take our children into a nice restaurant without feeling like we have three heads and are bringing in two small trolls. Ha! Not to begrudge the City by the Bay. It is still one of our favorite places; just not the best environment to raise a family, at least not for us.

It hasn't all been about Dallas though. In March the kids and I took our first trip back to California. It is strange to return to a place as visitors that for so long was home. Then in April we celebrated my birthday in the Riviera Maya. July took us to Palm Beach to celebrate the 4th and Chad's big 4-0, followed by a whirlwind 16 day trip to California literally from one end of the state to the other to visit family and friends. The end of our summer vacation was capped off by a tympanoplasty(ear drum reconstruction surgery) for our sweet Sloan.

All of this leads to today: Sloan's FIRST day of THIRD grade!!! I just realized this is his THIRD first day at three different schools in three consequetive years. That kid is one heck of a gamer. Sloan, you are a champ! Tomorrow Miss Kensie will have her first day. It's her third year of preschool. Seems like she has been going to preschool forever. We met all SIX of her teachers last week: English, English Asst., French, French Asst., Spanish and French Art. Whew! Kensie, you are a champ too! If you can just remember all of their names, I'll be impressed!

Oh, and remember that snow I last blogged about? That is a distant dream! They weren't lying about that Texas heat! I wouldn't mind a few snow flurries about now.

Here is a few highlights of our last six months . . .

Our first Easter in Dallas at the Rosewood Crescent Hotel

The Easter Bunny brought us the best treat of all: a visit from Gammy and Papa

Kensie's last day of preschool or as the French classify it, her last day of maternelle one.

We celebrated another important bday while we were there. Chad turned the big 4-0!

And just one week later on his first day of THIRD grade!

And Miss K meeting one of her plethora of teachers. :)

Whew, that was quite a whallop! You know what they say, "everything is bigger in Texas." ;) I'm not going to promise but I'll try to do better, ya'll. Wink, wink.
