Welcome to our new City Home ( A long overdue update)

A few people asked me to share some pictures of our new home. Well, it is definitely not new, but new to us. My father is a home builder and developer. Both my husband and I, at one time or another, have been involved in the family business. Because of my dad's background, I have always lived in new homes and have always lived in homes that we owned. So two big changes. Not only do we live in a home that is probably close to forty years old (purely a guess), but we are renting. New homes don't even exist in the city, only newly remodeled ones. Secondly, we had no idea in which neighborhood we wanted to be (still don't) so we knew we needed to rent until we know the city much better. Not to mention that San Francisco has some of the highest real estate prices in the country; minor details. ;)

This house was a God-send. Almost (almost being the operative word) all of our furniture fit. The color scheme was also a perfect fit. (No psychedelic orange walls to be found). Here are some of the positives. It has a large garage with tons of storage, something almost unheard of for here. We have a small yard (small also being the operative word). And oh the views. . . We have city skyline views from every window. Now some of the downsides. We live on a VERY steep hill. No skateboarding down our street! Our home has three stories with also very steep stairs. It is quite a trek from the bottom to the top floor. Come to think of it, that may be a positive; gym not needed! We have a small yard. (This one makes both lists). A seven-year-old boy who is a sensory seeker and small, urban yards are not a match made in heaven! And those views I mentioned, not a window covering in sight. And since I can make out the type of cereal my neighbor is having for breakfast, definitely no sashaying around the house in your underwear.

So will we be welcoming our grandchildren here one day, or will we be house hunting again in about 10 months when our lease is up? Who knows. What I do know is that for now, God has us exactly where he wants us. It really isn't a cliche after all. Home IS where the heart is!

P.S. I had some questions about how Sloan is doing in school and on Brain Highways. First I must say, thank you for your kind concern and I will post on this in a couple of days!

Welcome to our SF Home. The entry as you walk in. . .

The living room

Dining Room

Kitchen and nook

The "real" living room. We all four cram in here for tv watching. Cozy!

Sloan's room

The sum room turned office. Trying to type mid-day while sweltering with your sunglasses on can be challenging. Hmmm, didn't really think that one out too well.

Master bed

Master bath

Downstairs playroom

Guest room - To our friends and family who haven't been here yet, What are you waiting for?!

Kensie's room that we just look at because she is too afraid to stay down here by herself. I actually can't blame her!

Did I mention all of the stairs?!

I think I can . . .

I think I can . . . I think I can . . .

I think I can, I know I can! Whew! Workout for day, done!

Oh wow, Tisha! I can't believe you look so settled already. You have been a busy, BUSY girl!! Everything looks wonderful and like you are right at home in the middle of the city. The views must be phenominal and that sunroom!! OH MY! But those stairs... my thighs are aching just looking at them.

So glad to see you are all settled and I look forward to reading about how Sloan is doing in school. Take care!

Hugs,
Michelle

Gorgeous!
You've settled in and turned your new house into a home so quickly. You've got great taste! And I LOVE the kitchen!
I bet you won't think anything about those stairs after a while--and your legs are going to be so toned!
We picked up a real estate guide when visiting San Fran a few years ago and our jaws just dropped at the prices. Property is so expensive there but it's such a neat place with so much to do! I'm so excited to be following your family's adventure!
