The Farewell Tour (And My First Give-Away)

(Check out the surprise Give-Away at the end of this LONG post)

First, let me say thank you for all of the encouraging, wonderful comments to my last post. The amazing prayers and support that were offered to my family was amazing! I want you all to know how much it meant to me!!! I have tried to visit blogs and leave personal thank you's but I've only gotten around to a few because we are moving tomorrow!!!!!!! Let me just say that it has happened F-A-S-T! Less than a month fast, and the moving truck will be here in the morning!

Needless to say that I will be absent for a couple of days. The moving truck comes tomorrow and we travel to our new city on Sunday; stay in a hotel Sunday night; get keys to new house Monday morning; take Sloan to first day of school; go back to new house and wait for movers; start unpacking; pick up Sloan from first day at new school; return to new home; repeat unpacking. It's going to be a tad bit crazy.

So first, we bid farewell to the place we have called home for the last five years. We have been blessed to have lived here and we will miss it. Here is the farewell home tour:

My BFF these last five years; my Miele coffee machine. If I could wrap my arms around her to hug her goodbye, I would. ;)

So for those who don't yet know where we are moving, I have a little surprise Give-Away. It is a beautiful, classic children's book on our new city. Anyway, the first person who guesses the riddle correctly and leaves the answer in the comment section wins, and I will mail the surprise whenever I can find it in one of the boxes. ;) If for some reason, several people guess correctly, I'll have a drawing.

Here it is: We are moving where giants find gold. Where are we moving?

Hugs to you all!!!!

Wish you much happiness in your new home. Is it San Francisco? Judy

I have always thought your home is just gorgeous!!! In the few moves we have made, I have always had to remind myself that my most precious things I get to take with me...my family :)

Praying tht your journey is relatively uneventful and that the move goes off without a hitch.

And I too, would have to guess San Francisco! I remember reading a book once about magical San Francisco that had giants in it. Who knows??? Maybe there is another. But, that's my guess :)

Can't wait to see you again!!

Fondly,
Anna B.

How hard it must be to leave your beautiful home and all those happy memories of early parenthood behind. But as children grow, it DOES get easier, and with your faith and positive outlook, you'll thrive in your new community.

I vote San Francisco.
Giants = San Francisco Giants Baseball.
Gold = San Fran was a major destination in the Gold Rush of 1849.

Your home is lovely, Tisha, as I'm sure your new home will be. Sounds like things are moving at a rapid, hectic pace. I pray that things will settle for you quickly and that your new home will indeed feel like home. I am guessing San Francisco, too.

Hugs,
Michelle

I don't have a clue about the children's book but look forward to seeing the answer. Your home is stunning Tisha!! So beautiful!! Moves and changes are so hard, especially when it's not our "plan" but is "Gods plan". When my husband got transferred with his job up north 4 years ago I was devastated. I had lived in Atlanta my entire life (other than 4 yrs. at college) and all of my family is there who I'm very close with. Moving to NJ was certainly not in "my plan" one bit. But it has blessed our marriage and our family immensely. Moving out of my comfort zone made my marriage stronger because we learned to rely more on each other. 4 yrs. later I can honestly say NJ feels like home. Of course I still miss our extended family like crazy but it seems to put even more value and appreciation on the time spent when we see each other. Anyway, my prayers for you, Chad and the kids on this new adventure and chapter in your life. I look forward to hearing about it!

Hugs,

Emily

I've always loved your home--especially the yard, pool, fountains, gardens and landscaping--just lovely! I'm so excited about your new adventure, though. My guess would also be San Francisco (I LOVE San Francisco!).

Seeing as you said this would be a big change ... and you lived in a green and lush area ... how about the desert of Nevada? This is my first thought. There were giants and gold there.

Try not to stress too much in the unpacking. I know this will be hard for all of you.

From following your adoption journals, I continue to love watching your children and family grow in the promises God has for you. Your home is so lovely - thanks for sharing the pictures with us!

My prayers are with you through this newest journey... I have no idea, except clues from the earlier comments, where you are moving to, but know God's plans for you are better than you can imagine.

Tisha - I have always read, but never posted! I will miss you guys so much. I tear up everytime I read the blogs about you guys moving. I will miss Sloan incredibly - he (and you) are part of the reason I do what I do, and much of the reason I have a private practice. I look forward to lots of updates on his time at Laurel and what the future holds!

Tisha - I'm probably one of the last people you expected to see a comment from. As I write this I am sitting at the Fresno Airport after a deposition up here today. I found your blog as I tried to find contact info for you to let you know I was coming to town -- of course right after you moved out. Our prayers are with you and Chad that your new home will be everything you want and need, a job and a good place for Sloan. I too think the city is S.F., but seeing as many people are before me in line, seems that someone else will get the book. Drop me a note when you get a chance. Give my best to Chad and to your parents. Dave Barker (dbarker@ccmslaw.com)
