Our New Year's Baby Turned Three!

When I first learned of Kensie's birthday falling on January 1st, I was ecstatic.I thought it was a special blessing since we had waited for her so long. My excitement waned though on her first birthday. Having a birthday on such a holiday definitely has its challenges. Kensie has yet to have a "real" birthday party. It isn't easy for your birthday to fall the day after the biggest party of the year, not to mention having to share the spotlight with sleeping late, parades and football. What is a girl to do?! Perhaps a pedi/mani?! It was literally the only thing that was open that I could think to do that she would enjoy. She is obsessed with polishing her nails and always notices when I get mine done. So much to my good friend Kristyn's dismay, I took her to get her nails done for her (almost can't say it) third birthday. She LOVED it! She sat still as a brick and took in every indulgent second. The owner of the salon and her two young children were there and they all sang "Happy Birthday." Later we had a small party at our house.

Above all, each day is a miracle with this precious child. Although we celebrate her birthday only once a year, we are thankful that the Lord chose us to be her family each and EVERY day! We love you, sweet Kensie girl!

How cute! It's all about spending time together. What a special way to celebrate Mom & daughter. :)

January first is our wedding anniversary. We chose the date because we knew we'd always have the day off work to spend together. Kenzie's lucky to have such a special day as her birthday. This past year, my 8 year old had no fun on her birthday, because Daddy was out of town on business, there was soccer practice for her sister after school, and then Mommy had to go to school parent-teacher conferences in the evening, so not even a special dinner was had! Enjoy that holiday birthday to the fullest (even if you are a bit hung-over).

We just watched the slideshow of Kensie's b-day celebration and we are so bummed we missed it. Sydney and Siena would have been right there with her getting their toes done. Happy belated birthday Kensie, we love you! Auntie Katie, Sydney and Siena
