Home for Christmas!

Tree 2

After almost six weeks away, we are home for Christmas! And talk about hitting the ground running! As soon as I walked through the door on Friday afternoon, I started addressing Christmas cards. (Crossing my fingers they all arrive in time). Two of my closest friends came by and brought appetizers and conversation. Thank you Kristyn and Katie for a lovely homecoming! By Friday night the house was completely decorated sans tree. Yesterday, the tree was trimmed and the last card mailed. Now for the shopping. . .

Even though I have been lamenting about my expedited Christmas season (I usually have the tree up and house decorated the day after Thanksgiving), it feels good to just appreciate the little things I have missed:
Master bed 2
My bed and my pillows. . .

Masterbath
my bathtub. . .

Butler's pantry
last, but definitely not least, my love affair with my coffee machine

What I missed, really isn't an address, a floor plan, square footage, furniture or things. It is a feeling; a feeling of HOME. It's definitely not a coincidence that the one Christmas song I can't get out of my head this season is good ole' Bing Crosby's rendition of "I'll Be Home for Christmas." Fortunately for me, it's not just in my dreams.
