Kensington did brilliantly. Her teachers asked if she had been going to daycare. They were surprised to find that she had not. They said she immediately settled into their routine and schedule. She even got a little award for doing so well on her first day. Unfortunately, my Sloanie is having a bit more trouble adjusting to first grade. Today, I went and helped in his classroom. It's been a bit of a tumultuous start. It is a LONG day that is complicated by his sensory issues. I would appreciate any and all prayers as we help him make the necessary adjustments to make a productive and successful transition.
To end on a positive note, I asked Kensie if she prayed at school today. Tears welled in my eyes as she said, "Yes, Jesus loves me." This was absolute confirmation that after a brief detour, the Lord directed us back to Him. He was waiting for us, arms outstretched, all along.

First day, take two! :)

Glad Kensie had a great 1st day..
Love the photos..
have a great week..
This is too funny. When I read your post the other day about not sending Kensie to a Christian school, I thought to myself "I wonder if they will end up switching in a couple of weeks?"
I am sure you are at peace with the decision, and from the pictures, Kensie is too.
I will be praying that things get better for Sloan. I remember Emma struggling in the beginning of 1st grade going from 1/2 day kindergarten to full day 1st grade.
It took her about two months to get settled in.

Kensie looks so happy....isn't it funny how your gut instinct is usually right? I am glad you were able to get in her in.....things always have a way of working out!!
Sorry to hear that Sloan is having a difficult time....I am sure he will adjust as time goes on. First Grade is a big year filled with lots of change......it was one of Nick's most difficult years, but he did pull through with a little extra help from the teacher and from us. That was the year that the teacher realized something was off and we had him tested to find out he had Dyslexia. Hang in there and keep us posted on his progress......as a parent, it is so difficult to see your child struggle in school.

I'm so glad that everything worked out. God's plan is always perfect, but the waiting for Him to reveal it can seem quite bumpy.
I'm sorry to hear that Sloan has had a difficult start to first grade. I will say a prayer for him right now that the adjustment get easier.
Hugs,
Michelle
