"A new commandment I give to you, that you LOVE one another, even as I have LOVED you, that you also LOVE one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have LOVE for one another." John 13:34-35.
Another thing that I am thankful for today is God's mercies; they are new every morning! I recently read somewhere that we desire mercy for ourselves but want justice for others. I pray that God would change my heart that I may be mindful that I deserve justice but instead I am undeservedly graced with God's mercy. May I also learn to desire mercy for those around me as much as I desire it for myself. A pint-size (but very strong-willed) two-year-old has been teaching me this lesson. Whenever we discipline Sloan, Kensie rushes to his defense and seeks to comfort him. In the following picture, Sloan was placed in time-out and she quickly sat in his lap, placed her arms around him and gave him the most endearing embrace. Altough, this was supposed to be a teaching moment for Sloan, I had to run and get my camera. Kensie's desire is that her brother be treated with mercy more than with justice. Thank you Lord, that even when I deserve condemnation and judgment, you administer grace and mercy in its stead.

"Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful." Luke 6:36
