Our Girlie-Girl

103
Months ago I had this wonderful idea that I was going to reserve a day to blog about each child; their own special posts. Well, I think that I've only done about three posts total in this regard. I always have the most wonderful intentions but, alas, somehow my actions fall short. Well today, I will try to resurrect this idea and blog about my precious little girl. Warning: this may be a long post; I have a lot of ground to make up.

Kensie is now 2 1/2 and every bit of a spit-fire. She is strong willed and fiercely independent. This is tempered though by a sweet, loving nature as well. Her first (and most commonly used) two words were "I do." As her language skills have progressed, her new favorite phrase is "I do by myself." In close second for frequent use is "I need that." This phrase not only covers necessities, but desires, wants and anything Miss Kensie has in her sights. Let's just say that Kensie "needs" many, many things. ;) A probable tie for second is "How about me?" She uses this whenever she hears someone making plans or receiving something that does not include her. As you can see, our two year old is right on track for the "world revolves around me" phase of development.

Kensie just went through a little bit of a fearful stage. All of a sudden, she didn't want to be left with her babysitter, didn't want to go to Sunday School, didn't want to swim in the pool, etc. .. All these things she did and enjoyed before. But suddenly, it was all about "my mommy" and I mean all of the time!
Aside from Sunday School (still working on that one) the phase seems to have come and gone. You would not believe how high she jumps into the pool!

One of the most evident things about her right now is that she is a complete "girlie-girl." She must have her lipstick (or as she says it "ipstick")with her at ALL times. She applies multiple layers and refuses kisses because it might mess up her application. As I type, I have blue glitter nails and toes that Kensie painted for me last night. She currently is sporting about three different colors of polish herself. She would love to paint "her Sloanie's" nails as well, but since he is ALL boy, he won't let her touch his nails with a ten-foot pole. Everything is all about princesses. She must wear her princess underwear, eat with her princess spoon and fork, write with a princess pen, etc. . . etc. . . And our little girl would never even think about leaving the house without a bow in her hair. I'd be lying if I said I didn't just love it! :)

Notice the nail polishes. ;)

To my dear Kensie,
I love the little girl that you are becoming. God has given you such a sweet, feminine, yet independent spirit. I love the "girlie" times that we enjoy together. I pray for many more to come. Love, Mom

I think Kensie and Sarah would be fast friends....they are almost exactly the same age and seem to be doing and saying all the same things!! She is absolutely adorable.......love these pretty pictures of your sweet girl!!

This summer has been so busy.....I have not had much time for blogging either. I hope to get back on track this fall!!

I LOVE this post, the photos and how you describe your independent and loving girlie girl! Love the fact that we also share a special memory of High Tea at The Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong. Have a great time on your trip to Mexico. Look forward to hearing all about it!
